Ride: July Ride at Mesa Top, Grand Mesa
Trail Boss: Brandy
Date: July 20, 2024

Our July Birthday Ride should dubbed the Wild Wildflower Rides.  The wildflowers were spectacular out of the Mesa Top Trailhead on Grand Mesa.  The Ride Committee decided to have their July Birthday Potluck at the Trail Head and combine a Blue Ride with a Green Ride.

Brandy led the 5 members wanting to ride a bit faster and complete a 9 mile loop.  They headed out 30 minutes before the Green group.  Juleen was the TB for the 17 members and guests who chose the more leisurely paced, 6+ mile lollipop loop.

The wildflowers at the overlook above the Battlements and Grandby Reservoirs were beyond stunning and both groups covered that location.  The only problem was the grass was knee deep and most of the horses grazed across the meadow used to connect a game trail for the return leg (this was also true for Blue and Green riders.)

Green riders arrived back at the trailhead first and began setting up for the Potluck, trying to wait patiently for the Blue riders to return.

Wow, what an amazing Potluck!  The homemade peach cobbler, salads and cherry bars were truly scrumptious.   The weather cooperated as well.  It was a beautiful day, 2 wonderful, safe rides, nothing but smiles and laughter.
