Ride: Halloween Ride at Escalante Canyon
Trail Boss: Juleen
Date: October 26, 2024
WSCSC’s annual Halloween ride at Escalante, north of Delta, was on October 26, 2024. Beautiful ride, weather was warm, everyone in sunny spirits. All riders were nicely spread out, horses were all well behaved. Brandy did a great job keeping us off the roads and ordering up perfect fall weather. Moving the trailhead south of Hwy 50 was a good call, too. Nineteen riders, including three wonderful husbands, rounded out the festive day.
Birthday potluck celebration at the overlook midway was more fun than ever. Watching the three young women scamper around on the cliffs like mountain goats, was more entertaining than the costumer contest.
Maggie (The Good Witch) and Sitka won best costume hands down. Anna, one of the 3 Musketeers, was 2nd place. Beth won 3rd place, representing her great grandmother, Bessie Porter. Beth even rode in the saddle used by her great grandmother!
This was the club’s last organized ride for 2024. It’s been of year of Great Progress. The improvements in rider’s skills and horse’s calmness, especially riding in large groups, was inspiring. Thanks to all who made 2024 a Safe and Enjoyable Riding Year.
